In 2006 the northwest part of the Valley welcomed Heard Museum West. The Heard Museum West features a long-term exhibition focused on the Native cultures in Arizona along with a changing exhibit space. A classroom for children's hands-on activities, tours and classes, and adult programs and continuing education classes are onsite. A museum shop selling high-quality, original artwork purchased directly from Native artists as well as outdoor spaces for gatherings, festivals, demonstrations and native plantings are all part of the first phase of Heard Museum West.
Heard Museum West is located at the City at Surprise Center, directly east of the Maricopa County Library located at 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza in Surprise, Arizona.
