Which Phoenix Museums Have Free Admission?

There are several museums around town that are free. That's a great deal! Some of these have no admission charge at all, and some are free only on certain days.

During the summer, active military and their families are offered free admission at museums in Arizona that participate in the Blue Star Museums Program.

All dates, prices and offerings are subject to change without notice. Please check the museum official web site for confirmation of free admission and hours.


African American Multicultural Museum

Where is it? Scottsdale
When is it free? Admission is always free

Exhibits and programs featuring art, historical items, speakers, and artists. Exhibits change quarterly. Emphasizes the positive contributions of many races and cultures while incorporating the African American culture.

Arizona Capitol Museum

Where is it? Phoenix
When is it free? Admission is always free

More than 20 exhibits tell Arizona's story from territorial days to the present.

Arizona Military Museum

Where is it? Phoenix
When is it free? Admission is always free

Operated by the Arizona National Guard Historical Society to "...enhance the appreciation of the military history of Arizona and the contributions of the Militia of Arizona and the Arizona National Guard to the State of Arizona..."

Arizona Museum of Natural History

Where is it? Mesa
When is it free? First Sunday of every month

The best dinosaurs in town, a history courtyard where visitors pan for gold, a native peoples’ gallery includes a replica village and pottery. The free admission day is part of the Target 3 For Free program, where Target sponsors free admission once per month at three Mesa museums.

Arizona Museum for Youth

Where is it? Mesa
When is it free? First Sunday of every month

This museum for children stimulates curiosity, nourishes self-expression and encourages imaginative play. Patrons experience the world through art, creativity and imagination. The free admission day is part of the Target 3 For Free program, where Target sponsors free admission once per month at three Mesa museums.

Arizona Railway Museum

Where is it? Tumbleweed Park, Chandler
When is it free? Admission to the Rail Yard is always free when they are open, weekends from September through May.

The Museum is dedicated to the railways of Arizona and the Southwest. There may be a small charge to tour the interior of some trains.

ASU Art Museum

Where is it? Tempe
When is it free? Admission is always free

The ASU Art Museum is a contemporary art museum with five galleries in a spacious and modern facility located within the Nelson Fine Arts Center. While the ASU Art Museum's collections are rich in ceramics and prints, a variety of artistic media is showcased here. Southwestern and Latino art are well represented in the collection.
