Each year the Scottsdale Culinary Festival attracts all kinds of food lovers to dine, sample and enjoy food and beverages from both local and nationally acclaimed chefs. There are picnic-style festivals, competitions, fancy fundraisers -- an attraction for every kind of food lover. While the Great Arizona Picnic is the casual, family-friendly and best attended daytime event, there is a variety of specialty events for adult food and wine lovers during this highly anticipated culinary festival.

What events are included?

The events and activities that are open to the public are (listed in date order):

  • Opening Night Affair
    Date/time: Tuesday, April 8 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Location: Casablanca Lounge, 7134 E. Stetson Drive, Scottsdale
    What it's about: Raise the curtain on the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. Dress to impress as you walk the red carpet entryway all lit up under the lights, sip on vintage cocktails from Campari, and savor bites from the Casablanca Lounge’s new menu. Enjoy classic black and white movies playing, magical tricks from a roaming illusionist, live music from DJ Mantis Claw. 21+ only.

  • Chocolate & Wine Experience
    Date/time: Wednesday, April 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Location: Musical Instrument Museum in North Phoenix
    What it's about: chocolate creations from some of the Valley’s best pastry chefs paired with unique wines from around the world. 21+ only.

  • Burger Battle
    Date/time: Thursday, April 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Location: Scottsdale Stadium on Oldtown Scottsdale
    What it's about: 15+ of the best chefs and restaurants will compete. Guests will have the chance to taste and vote for the burger with the best bite. 21+ only.

  • Bubbles & Bliss
    Date/time: Thursday, April 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Location: Poolside at W Scottsdale, 7277 E. Camelback Rd., Scottsdale
    What it's about: a champagne experience party. 21+ only.

  • An Artist's Palate
    Date/time: Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m.
    Location: It's a secret. People who buy tickets will be notified two days prior to the event.
    What it's about: It's new in 2014! A four-course gourmet Italian dinner perfectly paired with Italian wines. Art and entertainment. 21+ only.

  • Eat Drink and Be Pretty
    Date/time: Friday, April 11 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
    Location: Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
    What it's about: Dress to impress at this fashion-forward food and wine tasting. More than twenty of the Valley’s restaurants provide treats and a variety of wine and spirits. The evening includes a spring fashion show, DJ music inside and a live band. 21+ only.
    How much it costs: $75 per person in advance, $85 at the door

  • Great Arizona Picnic
    Date/time: Saturday, April 12 from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 13 from noon to 6 p.m.
    Location: Scottsdale Civic Center
    What it's about: This is the largest, public event of the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. It is family-friendly. Read detail and my tips about attending the Great Arizona Picnic here.
    How much it costs: $10 per person. Children under 12 and seniors over 65 receive free admission. Active military personnel $5 at the gate. Food, beverages and specialty tent areas are not included in Picnic admission. VIP experiences (21+ only) available.

  • From BBQ to Braai
    Date/time: Saturday, April 12 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Location: The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, 6902 E Greenway Parkway, Scottsdale
    What it's about:  A road-trip series sponsored by Wines of South Africa with renowned South African Chef Hugo Uys and acclaimed multi-media artist Xander Ferreira. Chef Hugo collaborates with local chefs to create a South African braai infused with local flavors perfectly paired with South African wines while Xander spins records in the background. 21+ only.

  • Wine Country Brunch
    Date/time: Sunday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Location: Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center, 7700 East McCormick Parkway, Scottsdale
    What it's about: Guests will sample from participating restaurants and vote for their favorite brunch dishes. Luxury items are available for bid during the brunch’s Silent Auction. 21+ only.

  • Best of the Fest
    Date/time: Sunday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m.
    Location: Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa, 7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Road, Scottsdale
    What it's about: The festival finale is a five-course, wine-paired dinner created tableside by ten of Arizona’s top chefs. 21+ only
