Attending the Goodyear Balloon & Air Spectacular

Tips For a Great Balloon Experience

By , About.com Guide

Balloon festivals are lot of fun, but those days can also be long, and there can be some annoyances. These tips should help you enjoy the Goodyear Balloon & Air Spectacular (formerly known as the Thunderbird Balloon and Air Classic) without a hitch.

Goodyear Balloon & Air Spectacular Tips

  • When 40,000 or 50,000 of your friends get together in one place, traffic and parking are likely to be annoying. Be early, be patient.
  • All parking is offsite, and shuttles will be running constantly. It will be too far to walk. That means that you should leave extra time for parking and transport to and from the event.
  • In an open field at 5:30 in the morning, it's pretty cold! Wear layers that you can remove as the day warms up.
  • I like to walk, walk, walk during a balloon festival, but I recommend bringing those portable folding chairs so you can rest and enjoy the balloons (and eat your funnel cake) comfortably.
  • Leave Fido home, since no pets are allowed.
  • Once you pass through the gate, you can't leave and come back in again. No hand stamps, no ticket stubs, no exceptions. If you want to leave and come back in, you have to buy another ticket. So make sure you take everything with you from the car that you will need. Backpacks and bags will be allowed.
  • If you need more information, visit the official web site of the Goodyear Balloon & Air Spectacular.
