I'm sure that there are many churches in the greater Phoenix area who are having Easter celebrations for their own congregation members and guests, but here the details about various Easter celebrations, mostly community events, where you and the kids can enjoy parades, carnivals, photos with the Easter Bunny, and Easter Egg Hunts. They are listed in date order.

Easter in Phoenix

Where: Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
When: March 31 through April 11, 2009.
What: The world's largest annual outdoor Easter Pageant. English and Spanish-language performances. It is a musical production depicting the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Performed on the grounds of The Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center. Parking is free.

Where: Great Arizona Puppet Theater, Phoenix
When: April 1 - April 26, 2009
What: Based from Beatrix Potter’s tale, The Tale of Peter Rabbit is performed to original music. Preschool and up. . Preschool through 3rd grade. Show runs 10 a.m. Wednesday through Friday; 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets from $6 to $10.

Where: Schnepf Farms, Queen Creek
When: April 10 & 11, 2009
What: Easter Egg-Citment Easter Egg Hunt and Photo with Easter Bunny, crafts, lunch and an Easter Cookie. One hunt per day at 11 a.m. for the children. Train, carousel and honeybee and hay rides. Adults hunt will begin at 12:30 p.m. (gather eggs, gift certificates to restaurant and wine bar and other surprises, photo with the Easter Bunny, but no lunch). Cost: $25.00 per child, $35 per adult. Make a reservation, as space is limited.

Where: Golfland, Mesa
When: April 10, 11, & 12, 2009
What: Easter Egg Hunts featuring prizes ranging from candy to Season Passes good for the 2009 season at Sunsplash or Big Surf. Easter egg hunts begin at noon. Ages 12 and under. Free.

Where: Snedigar Sportsplex, Chandler
When: April 11, 2009
What: Family Easter Celebration, with Easter egg scrambles for kids up to age 9. Information booths, displays, interactive amusements and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Admission free, charge for photos and some activities. 9 a.m. to noon. New this year: Bring your best Easter Bonnet creation and win prizes for each age group. There will also be an adult category. There is also a coloring contest. Pick up forms at any community or recreation center.

Where: Superstition Farm
When: April 11, 2009
What: Special Easter Egg Hunt for those taking our regular Farm Tour on April 11th. Kids will get to search for Easter eggs on the farm as part of the tour. Be careful -- you might find some real eggs! Tours at 10 a.m. and noon. Regular tour rates apply. Get your Easter pictures taken with real bunnies and chickens! Sitting fee $10, any size group. Where: Surprise Recreation Campus
When: April 11, 2009
What: Eager hunters are invited to join the search for more than 50,000 candy and toy-filled plastic eggs as a part of Surprise's Spring Eggstravaganza celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will attend. Clowns, inflatables and more. Attendance is limited to the first 10,000. Admission to the egg hunt is free with the donation of a canned food item to benefit Valley View Community Food Bank. There is a small charge for some activities. 9:30 am - Noon. Age specific hunts at different times.

Where: Peoria Sports Complex
When: April 11, 2009
What: Admission is free to the Dolly Sanchez Memorial Easter Egg Hunt when you bring canned food to benefit the St. Mary's/Westside Food Bank Alliance. The event will feature candy hunts for 8 different age groups. Entertainment, make & take crafts, carnival games, inflatables, bubble play, pony rides and more. Some activities have a nominal fee.
