I'm sure that there are many churches in the Greater Phoenix area who are having Easter celebrations for their own congregation members and guests, but here the details about various Easter celebrations, mostly community events, where you and the kids can enjoy parades, carnivals, photos with the Easter Bunny, and Easter Egg Hunts. They are listed in date order. Check back often -- I am constantly adding new Easter activities as they are reported to me!

Easter in Phoenix

Where: Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
When: April 9 -19, 2014.
What: The world's largest annual outdoor Easter Pageant. English and Spanish-language performances. It is a musical production depicting the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Performed on the grounds of The Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center. Parking is free.

Where: Great Arizona Puppet Theater, Phoenix
When: April 9 - April 20, 2014
What: Peter Rabbit is performed. Preschool through 3rd grade. Tickets are $7 for children 2 and up and $10 for adults. Children under two are free with the purchase of a child ticket.

When: Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9 a.m. to noon
What: It will be a hippity-hopping time at Buckeye's annual Spring Celebration. The free activities include the annual egg hunt, entertainment, games. Mr. & Mrs. Cottontail will also be available for pictures.

Where: Shamrock Farms, Stanfield
When: Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13, 2014
What: Easter at the Farm will take place during the tours on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the 11:15 a.m. tour on Sunday. In addition to the regular guided farm tour, added features include an Easter Egg Hunt at Roxie’s Outdoor Adventure during every tour, a face painter, balloon artist, games and a craft for the kids at the Welcome Barn. The Easter Bunny, a known BFF of Roxie, Shamrock Farms spokescow, will attend. Reservations and pre-payment are required.

What: The Family Easter Extravaganza is for kids of all ages, grandparents and parents for a fun filled family afternoon of activities to benefit Comfy and Cozy for Chemo. Meet the Easter Bunny and take complimentary photos. Local artist, Emma the Brave will lead a bunny coloring contest and Easter egg decorating. $5 includes Easter egg decorating, Easter Bunny coloring and a chocolate egg truffle of your choice. Donations will be accepted for Comfy Cozy for Chemo and Emma the Brave. In addition Emma’s artwork will be displayed and for sale. Andy Pavarini, local author of Hunter’s Tail, A Dog’s Guide to Human Healing Love and Peace will make an appearance.

What: Activities at the Easter Eggstravaganza include a cookie walk, egg decorating, face painting, inflatables, and the egg hunt. The egg hunt begins at 11 am. All ages are welcome to attend, however the egg hunt is only available to children 12 years of age and younger.  Have your picture taken with “Hip Hop” the Easter Bunny.

What: Rascal the Rabbit has hidden eggs at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park. Help the Ranger collect all of Rascal's eggs at the Scrambled EGGstravaganza by locating secret clues left along the Interpretive Trail (roughly one quarter-mile round-trip). Check in at the Visitor Center to receive a special map to help you locate Rascal’s treasure. Stay after for some fun craft activities. Supplies are limited. $6 per vehicle park entry fee.

What: The Wigwam’s Governor’s Egg Roll & Easter Festival features an Easter Egg roll on the front lawn, animal encounters, crafts and live entertainment. At 9:30a.m., there will be an Easter Outfit Competition, where you can enter to win VIP access to the egg hunt as well as “golden egg” prizes. At 10 a.m. the Easter Egg Hunt will take place with children divided into two groups, ages 1-4 and ages 5-8. What: Join Compel Church as they host a free Easter Event. There will be a helicopter egg drop, 10,000 eggs, inflatables, food truck, tour of the helicopter and giveaways for the kids (while supplies last). Children from birth to 12 years old will be given an opportunity to participate in separate hunts according to their age groups. Inflatables and food trucks will be open during pre-registration.
