Valentine's Day is for girlfriends and boyfriends, spouses, partners, friends, families, first dates, 50th anniversaries and just about anyone who appreciates love and romance. In Greater Phoenix, there is quite a variety of events and activities celebrating Valentine's Day.

Celebrate Valentine's Day in Phoenix

There are many things that you can do and places you can go on February 14th in the Valley of the Sun, but these are specially designed for love and romance.

    1 - Take in a concert. From the weekend before Valentine's Day to the weekend after in Greater Phoenix in 2008, you can take in the Johnny Mathis, Valentines Love Jam, Leahy, The Ten Tenors and Los Lobos, among others.

    2 - Ballet Arizona presents Don Quixote, a tale of love and chivalry, at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix.

    3 - Desert Botanical Garden presents Desert Divas & Desserts, a romantic evening filled with songs and arias that cultivate love in the hearts of all. The Desert Divas - coloratura soprano Vicki Moffatt, mezzo soprano Mary Sue Hyatt, pianist Jan Meyer Thompson and their special guest tenor, Timothy Culver - will perform on Valentine’s Day 2008 in Dorrance Hall. The evening will also feature delectable desserts and fine chocolates, paired with wine and champagne. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Desert Botanical Garden is in Phoenix at Papago Park.

    4 - Opening night of Hello Dolly! at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is on Valentine's Day in 2008. It's a classic musical comedy about America's most beloved matchmaker, Mrs. Dolly Levi. You'll recognize many of the songs in this show.

    5 - The Pleasure Feast, served by wenches and tavern knaves at the Arizona Renaissance Festival, includes a six course meal along with two hours of raucous Renaissance entertainment. Admission to the Arizona Renaissance Festival is included with your ticket. Reservations strongly encouraged, as seating is limited.

    6 - Tempe is the place for the Mother's "Funday Son-Day" Valentine Bash. An exciting evening for moms and their 4 to 12-year-old sons filled with games, music and crafts awaits you. There will be clowns, prizes and contests. A framed memento photo will be created for each son to take home. Sunday February 17, 2008. Registration required.

    7 - The Daddy/Daughter Sweetheart Dance is an enchanted evening created especially for little girls and their dad's (or other special man in her life). Music will fill the air, clowns will entertain, and there will be games, crafts and refreshments. A framed memento photo will be created for each girl to take home. Friday, February 15, 2008 for 4 to 8-year-olds, and Saturday, February 16, 2008 for 8 to 14-year-olds. Registration required.

    8 - Prepare a romantic meal with your sweetheart at Souflez
    in Glendale. Couples can sign up for the Tour of Italy class on February 14, 2008. The menu consists of Classic Brushetta with Crispy Prociuotto and Crostini, Fresh Baked Parmesan and Herb Breadsticks, Veal Roulade with Sauteed Spinach, Carmelized Onions over a bed of Linguini with a Pink Vodka Sauce and Tiramisu with Shaved Chocolate and Strawberry Mousse. $129 per couple.
