Many Greater Phoenix Communites Have Veterans Day Celebrations

Each November we stop and take at least a few moments to honor America's veterans on Veterans Day. These events appear in date order.

Phoenix Area Veterans Day Observances for 2009

Daisy Mountain Veterans Day Parade and Family Picnic
More than 100 entrants will march in the parade starting at 10 a.m. Picnic and post-parade activities at Gavilian Peak Pkwy softball field across from Venture Court at noon. Parade will start at Boulder Creek High School, go down Gavilian Peak Pkwy, and end at the Community Center.

Veterans Day in Peoria
Peoria Veterans Day 5K Run, Family Fitness Walk, Free Pancake Breakfast, Awards Ceremony, Veterans Day Recognition, Armed Forces Dodgeball Tournament. Veterans in attendance can register to interview for the Veterans History Project, which honors American war veterans by preserving their stories of service to the country in the Library of Congress.

Date: Saturday, November 7
Place: Rio Vista Recreation Center
Starting Time for Event: 7:30 a.m.

Veterans Day in Mesa
The Salt River Brass annual tribute to America’s veterans is a patriotic concert.

Date: Sunday, November 8
Place: Mesa Arts Center
Starting Time for Event: 3 p.m.

Veterans Day in Gilbert
The Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last for approximately 30 minutes.

This memorial will include dignitaries, guest speakers and live performances to honor our country and the people who serve it.
