Each November we stop and take at least a few moments to honor America's veterans on Veterans Day. These events appear in date order.
Phoenix Area Veterans Day Observances for 2011
Veterans Day Parade and Family Picnic in Anthem
More than 100 entrants will march in the parade starting at 10 a.m. Picnic and post-parade activities at Gavilian Peak Pkwy softball field across from Venture Court at noon. Parade will start at Boulder Creek High School, go down Gavilian Peak Pkwy, and end at the Community Center. Opening ceremonies at noon followed by activities including inflatable bounce houses. Charge for some activities.

Veterans Day in Avondale
The City of Avondale, in partnership with the American Legion Crandall Palmer Post 61 and the VFW Pat Tillman Memorial Post 40, will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Outdoors. Bring lawn chairs/blankets for seating.

Scheduled to include flyovers, fireworks, skydivers, motorcycle riders, military vehicles, as well as songs and anthems performed by students from Williams Field High School. This year American Idol finalist and Country singer Josh Gracin will perform at 11 a.m. Veterans and their families will be provided special seating on the field beginning at 8:30 a.m..

The guest speaker is Captain Steven Borden, Commanding Officer of the Naval ROTC program at Arizona State University. The Mesquite High School Band will play patriotic music. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last for approximately 30 minutes. Following the ceremony, a complimentary lunch will be served to all in attendance. Free.

Veterans Day in Gilbert
Higley Unified School District will honor past and current service men and women
who have served in the armed forces of the United States. The event will begin with a welcome
from Dr. Denise Birdwell as well as comments from Kim Anderson, Governing Board President.
Fireworks, military planes and vehicles, Patriot Guard, Buffalo Soldiers, & American Legion riders will be joined together with patriotic songs, speeches and a special performance by special guest American Idol finalist and Country music recording artist Josh Gracin. Sodexo will provide complimentary breakfast will be served to all veterans, VIPs, sponsors and their families.
Shuttles will be provided from parking lots at 2935 S. Recker Rd., Trilogy Club house,
and Higley Elementary School. After the event Texas Roadhouse will offer a lunch for the same categories fed at breakfast.

Veterans Day in Goodyear
Parade route will begin at the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse and end at the Eagle's Nest Clubhouse. Veteran's Day tribute will take place at 11 a.m. at the Armed Services Plaza at the Eagle's Nest Clubhouse. Marching bands, floats, public safety vehicles, bikers, boy scouts and more. Breakfast buffet from 7:30-9:30 a.m. for $6.95; $3.95 for veterans.
