Each November we stop and take at least a few moments to honor America's veterans on Veterans Day. This page includes ceremonies in Scottsdale and the East Valley communities of Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe. I continue to add events as the details are announced, so check back often.

Apache Junction Veterans Day Parade
Part of the Festival of the Superstitions.

Free Veteran’s Day Breakfast Buffet
A free Veteran’s Day breakfast buffet and complimentary t-shirt for all Player’s Club Members with a current form of military ID stating current or former service. Player’s Club Membership is complimentary and t-shirts will be available on a first come first served basis while supplies last. T-shirt giveaway will begin at 6 a.m. each day.

Town of Gilbert Veterans Day Ceremony
The guest speaker is Joey Strickland, Director of the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services. The Mesquite High School Band will play patriotic music. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last for approximately 30 minutes. Following the ceremony, a complimentary lunch will be served to all in attendance. Free.

Higley Unified School District Veterans Day, Gilbert
Honoring past and current service men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States. Fly overs, canons, speeches, music performers and more. Shuttles will be provided from parking lots at 2935 S. Recker Rd., Trilogy Club house.

Patriotic Concert in Mesa
The Salt River Brass annual tribute to America including patriotic selections.
Date: Sunday, November 11 at 3 p.m.
Place: Mesa Arts Center

East Valley Veterans Parade
The parade begins in Downtown Mesa near Center Street and 3rd Place and travels south on Center to 1st Avenue. It is viewed by thousands of East Valley residents. Marching bands, military vehicles, veterans groups and floats. This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Veterans and Military, One Parade at a Time.” Lasts about 1-1/2 hours.

Veterans Day at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
This memorial will include dignitaries, guest speakers and live performances to honor our country and the people who serve it.

Veterans Day at Sassi
Veterans are invited to enjoy a complimentary three-course dinner prepared by SASSI’s Executive Chef Christopher Nicosia in honor of National Veterans Day. The menu includes choice of (3) offerings: antipasti, entrée (beef, chicken or pasta) and a chocolate dessert. U.S. veterans and active duty military must provide proof of current or former military service (an identification card, an earnings statement, or veteran’s organization card) for the complimentary meal. This is an exclusive offer for Veterans-only, but family members and friends are welcome to attend. For reservations, call 480-502-9095.

Veterans Day at Remington’s Restaurant
Remington’s Restaurant & Lounge at The Scottsdale Plaza Resort at the will be donating a portion of the proceeds from November’s Cigar Dinner to Operation Homefront Arizona. Well known for delicious cuisine and live music, this lavish dining experience is accompanied by selected cigars and an array of wines to compliment each course. The menu for this month begins with an appetizer of grilled quail glazed with a dried cherry Chambord sauce, followed by a field green salad topped with butternut squash, strawberries, pears, red onion and candied walnuts. The night’s main course is a succulent grilled bone-in filet mignon severed with baked sweet potatoes and steamed asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Featured dessert is pumpkin bread pudding. Each course is paired with fine cigars provided by Ambassador Fine Cigars and wines provided by Valley of the Sun Fine Wines. Wine expert, Gregory Wynn, and cigar aficionado, Vartan Seferian, will narrate throughout the evening with educational and informative discussions.

Veterans Day Parade in Tempe
Tempe will celebrate veterans with the annual Veterans Day Parade. The parade runs north on Mill Avenue from ASU Gammage to Tempe Beach Park. Veterans, high school bands, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and community members will participate in the parade.
