If you and your father live in the Greater Phoenix area, here are some more ideas for Father's Day activities. If you live elsewhere but your father lives in metro Phoenix, you can still arrange for him to enjoy these events with someone else.

Celebrate Father's Day early on Saturday, June 16 with a workout worthy of dad at CrossFit Scottsdale. Give him the gift of health and fitness to ensure many more Father's Days together. Dads workout for free at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. with exercises suitable for any fitness level. Then enjoy hot dogs grilled up by head coach Luke Kayyem after the workout.

Send your father to the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North for a “Barbecue Basics” class, where he will learn the secrets of sauces, rubs, and grilling techniques just in time for Father’s Day. The Barbecue Basics class will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for the class is $75 per person, and reservations are required. Participants will enjoy cold beer from a local brewery, specialty cigars rolled onsite, golf tips from the pros at Troon North Golf Club, and of course, demos of sauces, rubs and techniques by Executive Chef Mel Mecinas and Executive Sous Chef Jesse Hansen. Guests will enjoy barbecue fare after the demonstration, as well as homemade ice cream and whiskey floats. Each guest receives a takeaway recipe book, sample sauces and rubs, and a cigar to enjoy while grilling at home with their family. Participants can choose to extend the fun with an overnight stay Saturday, June 16, or Sunday, June 17, 2012. If they mention the rate code “DADBBQ,” they will receive complimentary self-parking and an upgrade to the next room category.

Dads and daughters are invited to take part in a special night to remember when Avondale hosts its annual Daddy-Daughter Dance, scheduled for Saturday, June 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the ballroom at the Avondale Hilton Garden Inn, 11460 W. Hilton Way, Avondale. Guests will walk the red carpet into the ballroom, surrounded by photo-snapping paparazzi. The Daddy-Daughter Dance is specially organized for girls of all ages and their fathers (or special father figure in their life). The event includes a deejay, dancing, contests, raffles, prizes, catered appetizers and beverages. A professional photographer will also be on hand to capture the special occasion for an additional cost. Tickets are limited, and available only through advance sales. Deadline to purchase tickets is June 7. Tickets may be purchased online or at Avondale City Hall, 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, from 7 am to 6 pm Monday – Thursday. Tickets will not be sold at the door on the night of the event. Avondale Residents: $50 per pair, $20 each additional ticket; Non-Residents: $60 per pair, $25 each additional ticket. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Ahwatukee Country Club. 8 a.m. shotgun start, $65 per player if signed up by June 8, $75 after that date. Proceeds from the Golf Tournament will benefit the various programs held at the Ahwatukee Community Swim & Tennis Center, a non-profit organization. Programs include learning tools for Child Enrichment Classes, equipment for the Golf, Swim & Tennis Camps, and more.
