Fantasy Father's Day at Salt River Fields
On Saturday, June 15, 2013 one hundred lucky Dads will experiences toys made for the big boys. Virtual golf, helicopter rides, batting practice, exotic car racing experience, food, drinks and prizes. The 100 guests will be divided into five groups of 20, and will rotate from facility tours, batting practice, virtual golf, helicopter rides and racing adventures. Guests also will have access to the ‘Man Cave’ featuring casino games, air hockey, dartboards and big screen TVs playing sports all day long. $250 per person, 21+ only. OSaturday, June 15th at 7:30 p.m. Ladysmith Black Mambazo, led by founder Joseph Shabalala, shares the harmonies of their native South African musical traditions and the sounds and sentiments of Christian gospel music. Tickets are $52.50-$62.50. On Sunday, June 16th Grammy-nominated, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sarah Jarosz performs at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.50-$27.50. The kids can get in on the musical fun with dad on June 16th from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Family Drumming Workshop for Dads and Kids (and Moms, too). Tickets are $12 per person (museum admission may be purchased separately). Learn the basics of African, Latin and pop-music hand drumming with master instructor Frank Thompson. After basic instruction, the session will end with a jam session. All levels are welcome to join in the fun. Bring your own drum or use one of theirs. To register call 480-245-6919.
Father Daughter Grand Ball in Avondale

Dads and daughters are invited to take part in a special night to remember when Avondale hosts its annual Daddy-Daughter Dance, scheduled for Saturday, June 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the ballroom of the Wigwam Resort. The event starts off with an Italian buffet and performance from Peigne Dance Company. Following dinner and the performance, guests will then have the opportunity to take classic ballroom dance lessons, with instruction provided by dance professionals of Peigne Dance Company. The Grand Ball is planned for girls of all ages and their fathers (or special father figure in their life). A professional photographer will be on hand to capture the occasion (additional cost). Tickets are limited and available only through advance sales; tickets will not be sold at the door. Deadline to purchase tickets is June 20.
