The Cowboy Artists of America was conceived in 1965 in Sedona, Arizona. Phoenix Art Museum has hosted the Cowboy Artists of America Exhibition and Sale since 1973. The Sale, held the night before the exhibition's public opening, has become one of the Museum's most successful fundraising events, attracting art collectors from around the world. There are more than 20 active members of Cowboy Artists of America, and each year they create new works depicting the the life of the cowboy. The Men's Arts Council organizes the event.
