Within about 2 hours from most points in Phoenix, Out of Africa Wildlife Park is located on more than 100 wilderness acres at the base of Mingus Mountain range in Camp Verde, Arizona. The weather and landscape are similar to the Masai Mara region of Kenya and the Serengeti of Tanzania, which suits the inhabitants -- bears, mountain lions, tigers, leopards, giraffes, zebra, wolves, wildebeests, deer and more -- just fine. The objective here is to provide a natural habitat for the animals, while allowing the humans to appreciate and enjoy them. The park is owned and operated by a husband and wife, Dean and Prayeri Harrison.

When is Out of Africa Wildlife Park open?

Out of Africa is open seven days per week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No tickets are sold after 4 p.m. Out of Africa is open on holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Where is it?

Out of Africa used to be just outside of Fountain Hills, but they moved to Camp Verde in 2005. Here is a map and directions to Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde. Parking is free.

How do I get tickets and how much are they?

General admission tickets may be purchased at the park or online. The charges are $29.95 for adults, $27.95 for seniors (65+), $22 for Veterans & Active Military with ID, $14.95 for children 3 to 12 years, and free for children under 3. (Jan 2013 prices, tax not included).

Are there any discounts available?

I have seen discount coupons offered in various mailers and coupon magazines. In 2013 you'll get complimentary admission during the month of your birthday with ID. Please tell the admission clerk before you purchase your ticket.

Check this page for online coupon or special offers.

What else should I know?

Your general admission covers the African Bush Safari Tour, Wildlife Preserve Tram Shuttle, Giant Snake Show, Tiger Splash Show, Predator Feed, Wonders of the Wildlife Show and Creature Feature. You can feed a tiger daily at 2 p.m. for an extra charge of $5 per person. Not all shows are available on all days. Check the schedule to see which shows are offered on the day you'll be going.

Out of Africa Wildlife Park also offers a Behind the Scenes VIP Tour. Reservations are required, and pricing is different for this tour.
