Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with brief presentations by Outlets at Anthem’s charity partners St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Entertainment begins at 5:20 p.m. with Dueling Pianos featuring musicians Ben Murphy and Billy Ward from The Big Bang in Tempe, who will combine music, comedy and audience participation in a high-energy show. Featured entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m. with 17-year-old teen music sensation Savannah performing in concert.

Arizona’s largest Christmas tree will be lighted in an animated performance at 7 p.m. Savannah and Phoenix City Councilwoman Thelda Williams (District 1) will join Santa Claus to flip a large switch that will light the 80-foot white fir tree. The lighting will be followed by a variety of local entertainment including select holiday numbers performed by the Grace North Church choir, performer Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Lil’Chicks with Picks.

There are no tickets. This is a free event. A donation of non-perishable food items or a toy for St. Joseph's Hospital is appreciated.

What else should I know about The Tree Lighting Ceremony at Outlets at Anthem?

This year's holiday tree is 45 years old, weighs eight tons and is decorated with more than 25,000 LED lights. To replenish the harvesting of the tree, 50 white firs were planted in its place.

There is bleacher seating, NO lawn seating this year. You'll have to arrive early, as seating fills up quickly.

On the day of the tree lighting, participating stores will hold a sidewalk sale throughout the day and all stores will be open until 9 p.m.

Between November 28 and December 24 kids can get their photos taken with Santa at the two-room Santa’s Cottage located near the Christmas tree. Photo packages are available. On December 1 and 8 bring your pet to Santa’s Cottage for Santa Paws Pet Picture Days from 5-7 p.m.
