Thousands of people each year come to downtown Chandler, Arizona for the annual Chandler Parade of Lights and the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting. The 2012 Tumbleweed Tree Lighting and Parade of Lights has been designated as a 2012 Arizona Centennial Designated Event.
Where is the Chandler's Parade of Lights and Tumbleweed Tree Lighting?The Parade of Lights and Tumbleweed Tree Lighting will take place in downtown Chandler, Arizona at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park.
What will happen?The name of this event is pretty self-explanatory! There's a parade and the lighting of one of the most unique trees you'll ever see. There is live holiday music and dance by local performers throughout the evening.
When is the Chandler Parade of Lights and Tumbleweed Tree Lighting?The Tumbleweed Tree Lighting and Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 1, 2012. The parade begins at about 7 p.m., and the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting will take place after the parade.
What kind of activities will there be?The Parade of Lights begins at 7 p.m. and features 63 entries, including 23 floats. Immediately following the parade will be the lighting of the 56th Tumbleweed Tree. The parade route will start at the corner of Arizona Avenue and Frye Road. The parade will move north on Arizona Avenue, past Chandler City Hall and continue through the downtown area. As it reaches the north end of Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, the procession will turn right on Buffalo Street, followed by another right turn onto Arizona Place. After moving along the east side of Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, the parade will end at the corner of Boston Street and Arizona Place.
In addition to the parade, beginning at 4:30 p.m. there will be entertainment, food and beverage vendors, visits with Santa and more fun for the kids. Bring your camera for a picture with Santa!
How much will it cost to get in?Admission to the Chandler Parade of Lights and Tumbleweed Tree Lighting events is free. There's plenty of free parking around downtown Chandler, including the municipal garages and lots, library parking lot and Chandler High School. Disabled Parking (placard or plate required) is on the corner of Boston Street and San Marcos Place (enter from Frye Road via California Street).
