Mesa's Merry Main Street used to be one of the biggest annual holiday celebrations in the Valley of the Sun. It was a free festival with non-stop performances on several stages, strolling entertainers, carolers and dance groups.
This was one of many community events that was axed during the Mesa budget crunch of 2006.
Here is a photo gallery where you can see what Mesa's Merry Main Street used to look like. Maybe it will return one day. After all, Mesa is too big a city to not have a city-sponsored holiday event.
