Holiday Traditions

Arizona Residents Maintain Holiday Traditions from Other Lands

By , About.com Guide

Everyone who participates in holiday activities has traditions. Mostly they are American holiday traditions. They involve Christmas trees, ornaments, singing of carols, a holiday meal, helping the needy, the practicing of faith, the lighting of candles, and much more.

Phoenix is, as this country is, a melting pot. Most of the people who live in the Phoenix area have moved here from somewhere else. Many of them not only have Phoenix traditions, and traditions from the state in which they were born and raised, but also from other countries. These Phoenicians may have been immigrants themselves, or they incorporate traditions passed down from family members from other lands. I asked visitors to and members of the Phoenix site to tell me about their special ethnic family holiday traditions. Here's what some Phoenicians told me.
