Two major holiday events are held in Wickenburg each year. They are the Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering and the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights.

Where is the Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering?

The Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering reception on Friday evening is at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. Saturday day sessions are at the Wickenburg Community Center, 160 North Valentine Street, just one block north of Highway 60. Saturday evening's ticketed event is at that same location, the Wickenburg Community Center.

What will happen at the Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering?

Featured cowboy poets will mingle with guests at a Friday night reception at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.

Most of the action will take place on Saturday, starting with a cowboy breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m ($5 donation requested). After breakfast, sessions of storytelling, cowboy poetry readings and singin’ will take place, which are held throughout the day. On Saturday night, featured cowboy poets performing on stage include Belinda Gail, Suzi Killman, Amy Hale Auker Sweethearts in Carharts: Jean Prescott & Yvonne Hollenbeck.

On Sunday, December 4 there will be a non-denominational cowboy worship service at the Wickenburg Community Center at 9 a.m.

How much will it cost to get in?

The Cowboy Poets Reception on Friday, December 2 includes cocktails and appetizers for $10 per person (reservations required). Sessions on Saturday during the day are free. The performance on Saturday evening, December 3 is a ticketed event, $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Where is the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights?

The Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights takes place in historic downtown Wickenburg. The parade take place on Yavapai Street in front of the Wickenburg Christian School, traveling to historic Frontier Street near the Chamber of Commerce Office and continuing down Frontier near the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, ending at Tegner & Yavapai Street near the Little Red Schoolhouse.

When is the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights?

The Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights takes place on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.

What kind of festivities will there be at the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights?

Visitors and residents will gather to watch the illuminated lighted wagons, automobiles, horse & riders, and floats. Santa and Mrs. Claus are grand marshals, followed by refreshments, awards and meeting Santa at the Little Red School house.

How much will it cost to get in?

Nothing! Admission to the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights is free.
