Two major holiday events are held in Wickenburg each year. They are the Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering and the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights.

When is the Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering?

December 6 and 7, 2013

Where is it?

The Wickenburg Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering reception on Friday evening is at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. Saturday evening's ticketed event is at the Wickenburg Community Center.

What will happen?

Featured cowboy poets will mingle with guests at a Friday night reception at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. On Saturday morning you can enjoy a Dutch oven cowboy breakfast for $5. During the day on Saturday there are free sessions at the Wickenburg Community Center. On Saturday night, featured cowboy poets performing on stage (ticketed event) include Brenn Hill, Waddie Mitchell and Don Edwards.

How much will it cost to get in?

The Cowboy Poets Reception on Friday, December 6 is $10 per person in advance, $15 at the door. The performance on Saturday evening, December 7 is $15 in advance and $25 after Dec. 1.

Where is the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights?

The Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights takes place in historic downtown Wickenburg. The parade take place on Yavapai Street in front of the Wickenburg Christian School, traveling to historic Frontier Street near the Chamber of Commerce Office and continuing down Frontier near the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, ending at Tegner & Yavapai Street near the Little Red Schoolhouse.

When is the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights?

The Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights takes place on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

What kind of festivities will there be?

The parade starts on Yavapai Street in front of the Wickenburg Christian School, traveling to historic Frontier Street near the Chamber of Commerce Office, and continuing down Frontier near the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, ending at Tegner & Yavapai Street near the Little Red Schoolhouse. Visitors and residents will gather to watch the illuminated lighted wagons, automobiles, horse & riders, and floats. A ceremony will take place in front of the Garcia Little Red Schoolhouse in the Bashas’ Frontier Shopping Center. There will be holiday refreshments and music, and the awards will be given in various parade categories.

How much will it cost to get in?

Nothing! Admission to the Wickenburg Christmas Parade of Lights is free.
