Some people are difficult to buy for, and some people just have way too much stuff already. Here are five gift ideas in various price ranges for this holiday season.

5 Gift Ideas For Phoenix Residents and Visitors

1. There's no better way to enjoy Arizona than a trip to the Grand Canyon. Let someone else do the driving and settle in for a day trip from the Phoenix area's Sonoran Desert through Sedona's Oak Creek Canyon, the Ponderosa Pines Forests of Flagstaff, past the San Francisco Peaks and on to the Grand Canyon. Have lunch at one of the Grand canyon resort hotels before your guided tour along the south rim for incredible views and great photo opportunities. The journey back to Sedona includes majestic views of the Colorado River and a stop at the famous Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

2. Spring Training Baseball doesn't start until the end of February, but you can be sure that some of the tickets will go fast when they go on sale. We have 15 teams in the Cactus League. Every team has a different date for when tickets go on sale. Some teams will offer tickets before Christmas but most go on sale in January. In that case, you'll have to give a home-made certificate indicating what your gift is, and then you can buy the tickets when they are available.

3. I like to give tickets to special events to people who don't need more stuff. There are several coming up that are very difficult tickets to get; they are already sold out. The Arizona Cardinals will play the Seattle Seahawks at home on New Year's Day. It isn't likely that tickets will be available for those. The Fiesta Bowl is usually sold out before the teams ever get announced. All hard-to-get tickets are possible to obtain if you are willing to pay the price to a reputable ticket broker like TicketsNow.com. Then there are concert tours that will be coming to town, so you can buy that special someone tickets to their favorite performers. For example, coming to Phoenix in the next few months you can see Megadeth, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Bob Seger and Roger Waters.

4. The 2012 Entertainment Book is a big coupon book, many of which are two-for-one coupons. Most of the coupons are for either restaurants or attractions, although there are coupons for services, like car washes, and retail stores. During the holidays, you can often get an Entertainment Book for $30 or less and free shipping. If you shop at Fry's, you'll get most of that back with the four coupons, $5 each, that you can use throughout the year and all the rest of your savings is profit! If you go to museums, eat at casual restaurants, go to the theatre or sporting events, you'll be able to use the Entertainment Book. Oh, I know. I've been writing like you are getting this book for yourself. Well, if you order one as a gift for someone else, you might want to consider getting one, too! Buy an Entertainment Book Direct)
Cost of this gift: $35 per book. Maybe less, if they are offering a special discount.

5. The Children's Museum of Phoenix is a relative newcomer to the area. It is designed for younger kids, probably up to about 8-years-old, where they can crawl, climb, draw, build, read, slide, pedal, design, create, feel and explore. I found it charming, and if you know someone with young children or have grandchildren that are toddlers, and they just don't need more stuff, this might be a wonderful family gift.
Cost of this gift: $195 for 4 people for as many visits as they'd like for one year. Individual visits are $11 per person and gift certificates are available.
