Phoenix Area Hotels Organized by Part of Town

By , About.com Guide

Often when you are spending time in a city you want to find a hotel in the part of town that's closest to where you'll be spending most of your time. Here are Greater Phoenix hotel recommendations, mostly rated 3 stars and up, that are organized geographically.

1. Metro Phoenix Map

This map is intended to allow you to deterne the relationshipm of the various cities and towns in Greater Phoenix to one another. Hopefully that will assist you in deciding where to stay when you come to town. For instance, if you are attending an event iat the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, and all the Glendale hotels are booked, you'll see from the map that west Phoenix, Peoria, Avondale or Goodyear might be good alternatives.

This map is clickable. Clicking on a hot spot on the map will bring you to a listing of hotels in that area.

Still not sure where to stay? Post your question in the Phoenix Forum.

2. Phoenix Downtown Hotels

Here are some hotels that I'd recommend if you are staying in downtown Phoenix. These hotels will work for you if you want to be close to US Airways Center, Chase Field, Phoenix Symphony Hall, Phoenix Convention Center, Arizona Science Center, Dodge Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Arizona Center, Children's Museum of Phoenix and the City of Phoenix, Maricopa County and State of Arizona government complexes.

3. Phoenix Central Hotels

Hotels in the north central part of Phoenix-- not downtown and not in north Phoenix, but mostly along what is called the Central and Camelback corridors -- are near Heard Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Theatre, Park Central Mall, Biltmore Fashion Park, Celebrity Theatre, Central Corridor Business District, Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Garden, Papago Golf Course, Piestewa Peak and Camelback Mountain, Phoenix Municipal Stadium, Irish Cultural Center and Japanese Friendship Garden.

4. North Phoenix Hotels

Here are some hotels that I would recommend if you want to stay in the northern part of Central Phoenix. Hotels that are west of 15th Avenue are not shown here; they are included in the West Phoenix Hotels listing. These hotels are most convenient to Musical Instrument Museum, Turf Paradise Racetrack, Deer Valley Rock Art Museum, Desert Ridge Marketplace and the Mayo Clinic Hospital.

5. West Phoenix Hotels

Here are hotels that I would recommend if you want to stay in the west part of Phoenix. Many of these hotels and motels are situated at or near the Black Canyon Highway, I-17. These hotels are most convenient to Metrocenter Mall, Arizona State Fairgrounds, Maryvale Stadium, University of Phoenix Stadium, Cabela's, Jobing.com Arena, Arrowhead Mall, Castles and Coasters, Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium, Phoenix International Raceway and Cricket Pavilion.

6. North Scottsdale Hotels

The Scottsdale hotels and resorts are recommended for places to stay when visiting North Scottsdale. Many events and attractions in North Scottsdale are visited by people from all over the country and the world. The include Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, Phoenix Open PGA Golf Tournament, Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, Musical Instrument Museum, Kierland Commons, TPC Scottsdale, WestWorld, Parada del Sol Rodeo and Taliesin West (Frank Lloyd Wright home).

7. Downtown and Central Scottsdale Hotels

These Scottsdale hotels and resorts are my recommendations for places to stay when visiting Downtown and Central Scottsdale. Many business activities and visitor events held in Scottsdale are attended by people from all over the country and the world. These include Scottsdale Stadium, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale ArtWalk, Marshall Way Arts District, Oldtown Scottsdale, Scottsdale Fashion Square, The Borgata, SouthBridge/Scottsdale Waterfront, Parada del Sol Parade and Kerr Cultural Center.

8. Carefree and Cave Creek Hotels

Here are some hotels that I would recommend if you want to stay in Carefree or Cave Creek, Arizona in the northeast part of the Greater Phoenix area.
