In 2013: The Across The Years 72-, 48-, and 24-Hour Footrace is an annual fixed-time, multi-day, New Year’s weekend running event celebrating the new year. Drawing runners and fans from across the United States, the event begins December 28 and concludes January 3, 2014. The go-as-you-please event is popular with beginners and competitive runners, allowing them to run, socialize, eat, rest and sleep as desired.
In 2013: Arizona Broadway Theatre transforms into Chicago: The Speakeasy. Join ABT stars of past and present along with Terry & Anne Davies and their fantastic full band for a night filled with everything Chicago. Test your luck at the gambling tables. An evening of entertainment, food and naughty fun reminiscent of those art deco, easy-living days. The night’s countdown to midnight will include “Secret” entry to ABT’s Speakeasy; cocktail reception and passed hors d’oeuvres ; dinner ; gambling; entertainment; dancing; midnight balloon-drop and champagne toast .
In 2013: Party favors, a live DJ and a free champagne toast when the clock strikes midnight. Show off your dance moves and party attire when the live DJ at Bungalow Bar and Grill hits the deck at 9 p.m. Bar staff will be serving up signature cocktails all night long and a full menu will be available throughout the night. Recapture the essence of the 80s with a festive dance party in the Showroom featuring famed tribute act, The Whip-Its. Characters, Dieter and Ivanka Hump, a European dominatrix who dons a whip and leather get-up, will have audiences laughing hysterically as they tell jokes in between musical numbers. Performers sing classic 80s anthems like Blondie’s “One Way or Another,” Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and so many more. A dinner buffet, balloon drop, champagne toast and two complimentary drinks are included in the package. In 2013: We all pouted when the Fiesta Bowl dropped the Block Party in downtown Tempe, Arizona after 2011. After all, the Fiesta Bowl isn't held there any longer, so it made sense to change the party to a pre-Fiesta Bowl football party. But where does that leave us on New Year's Eve? Not to worry. Starting in 2013 we have a new block party on Mill Avenue! Music, dancing, games and fireworks from 6 p.m. to midnight. Tickets $20 - $25 per person.
