Guide Review - Southwest Lite

This book has the exact formula that I look for in a cookbook: recipes that are easy to understand, don't require a lot of fancy specialized equipment, list ingredients that can be easily obtained without using frequent flier points, and, to top it all off, the recipes are good for you.

Southwest Lite is broken down into the typical categories, including appetizers, salsas, soups, main dishes, side dishes, vegetables, and desserts. It is attractively designed, with nice color photos. I especially like books that show me what the food should like like when the masterpiece is done!

The premise of Southwest Lite is, of course, healthy cooking. For each recipe the author provides nutritional information and not just calories. In this way, carb counters and sodium watchers can also benefit.

Take some simple recipes, use spices instead of fatty, sugary, or salty ingredients to make them flavorful, and you've got Southwest Lite.
