Guide Review - Sun Zapper Glare Shield
The tinted Sun Zapper Glare Shield is intended to protect your eyes while still allowing visibility for driving. A sliding "sun terminator" provides additional tinting and can be positioned to block out that blazing, eye piercing afternoon sun.
I wanted this visor to be the answer, to alleviate the problems that people who live in our desert sun experience, especially when they are driving home toward the west at rush hour. Unfortunately, the Sun Zapper wasn't what I was hoping for.
When the sun is in a high position such that a low position visor won't help, I find that having to angle the car's visor and the Sun Zapper leads to a position that made it uncomfortably close to my face. I could never get my visor in a good position on the side window at all.
Overall, I found that as I was driving, rarely in a perfectly straight direction, I was having to constantly adjust the position of the visor, which I found distracting. I am 5'5" tall, pretty average for a female. Anyone taller would probably have a more difficult time than I did. Worse, looking through the plastic made me feel like I was wearing glasses that were slightly out of focus. (Note: I don't wear glasses to drive.) The instruction sheet that accompanied my Sun Zapper included the following statement: "IT SHOULD NOT BE USED IF IT INTERFERES WITH NORMAL VISION OF THE ROAD." I guess, then, that I shouldn't use it.
The Sun Zapper Glare Shield might be more appropriate for the passenger side, where concentration and clear vision aren't quite as critical.
