Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

Reviews of Firebirds Grill in Arizona

By Judy Hedding, About.com

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

I've dined at Firebirds about 4 times, and every time has been amazing. The service is very attentive, and the food is delicious! The one time I ordered something I didn't care for (the buffalo meatloaf), they brought me something new very quickly and even paid for it. 3 of the times the manager on duty comes over just to see if everything is ok. It really shows that this establishment cares about their guests!

(Delaware) There are so many great words to describe this new sophisticated, sleek, upbeat restaurant in Newark, Delaware. As a guest your mind may travel from being in a NY restaurant all the way to a Aspen Colorado ski lodge. Mahogany woods, bold colors and stacked stone columns are through out the restaurant. The ladies restroom offers a pleasant surprise. The bar area is sleek and hip with comfortable seating. Bartenders they are warm and nurturing. These bar chefs manage to keep calm and focused, while making certain everyone has a cocktail. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chefs creating the art of culinary using fresh top-flight ingredients with plating as visually appealing as the restaurant. The stand out of the Starters is seared Ahi tuna cut in slim rectangles, each one tipped with a spicy mustard spice. Filet Mignon, was perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor and possessing a perfect slightly charred exterior. The wood fired grilled salmon preparation was definitely a winner. A grillled succulent piece of salmon served with parmesan mashed potatoes. Rich desserts end an evening of culinary delights Cognacs go great with dessert. I had the pleasure of having a glass of Remy Martin Louis XIII, the Grande Champagne Cognac at $125.00 per glass. Servers along with Guest Assistance is extra attentive and will pamper you.

(Chandler) Came in for lunch with guests; we were not greeted at the door even though several servers and hostess were there chatting. We had to interrupt their conversation to ask for service. Our waiter was fabulous and the only thing that made the visit worth it; however, the beef filet tips -$14.95 a little steep for lunch - but, they included a piece of paper in the sauce - not cool! During the meal, observed the manager idly chatting with the servers - this does not look good and was quite annoying. Will not return to this Firebirds!

(Peoria) Outstanding service...one would think we were celebraties. The filet mignon was prepared perfectly. This was my first time dining there. (10-06-07) My friend, who had dined there on several occasions, expressed the consistency of great food and exceptional service. We were quite surprised when a manager came over to ask us about our dining experience. A most enjoyable evening...Clint did an exceptional job for being so new. Thanks so much. Linda and Gary

Service was average (you have to fight for a refill of water). The Ribeye was of poor restaurant quality, maybe a steak you would expect at Denny's. Too fatty and although I like lots of salt, this was over the top with salt. My wife had a equally unremarkable Sesame Salmon but with inedible fried spinich which was salter than potatochips. We choose this restaurant because we never ate there before and the lunch review was positive. This was suppose to be a 33rd wedding aniversary treat. Instead, it was a waste of $65 for a sub-par meal.

My fiancee and I recently visited Firebirds for the first time. The service was terrible. We were given our drinks, our order was taken, food was dropped off and our server was not to be seen again for over 15 minutes. It was in the afternoon so the restaurant was not even busy. We had to flag down another server to get more dressing for our salad entree. The food was okay, the salad was way too big, too many greens, enough for a family of four. The food was just okay for the high price. I saw a manager walking around but he wasn't doing anything for the patrons or the staff for that matter. I can think of a handful of other restaurants I would rather visit for the money. Next time we'll go down the street to their competitor's.

Excellent service, the Black Diamond Martini's are worth the wait for a table...food is great, atmosphere is like a ski lodge - very warm and inviting.
