Bloom - What I Liked
- Cool, sleek ambiance, but not stuffy
- Perfect for a business meal, a date or a ladies day out
- Prices are reasonable
- Tables nicely spaced, a variety of types of seating offered
- Business casual attire is appropriate
- Might not be great for young children
Bloom - The Mood
Bloom is a restaurant in the Fox Restaurants Concepts group, and I usually like their style. While their restaurants always have a modern, clean look, this one has more space between the tables than most, making it not only great for business meals, but also nice for comfortable date conversation.
Bloom - The Damages
Bloom often participates in Arizona Restaurant Week. During that time you can experience a three-course prix-fix dinner. Naturally, you'd expect it to very busy, so reservations during that time are a must.
What I thought of Bloom
The Vienna Pastrami was recommended as a popular item. Not especially unusual, there was ample meat that was extremely lean and had just the right amount of flavor, not too bland and not too overwhelming. Not too many fries on the plate, but they were crunchy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside. This came on an onion roll. We weren't offered any choice of bread or rolls.
I had to order something a little less ordinary, so I opted for the Mu Shu Duck Tacos. I was very pleased with my selection, which was a plentiful portion with fried rice that included fresh vegetables and peppers. Not easy to eat gracefully, if it is a business lunch, and not as much fun to use a fork and knife!
We thought we would share a dessert and we were pleasantly surprised by the Strawberry Trio, with a warm selection, cold selection, and a room temperature pastry. Wonderful!
Although we didn't have any at this visit, there is a nice selection of wines by the glass at Bloom, ranging in price from about $6 to $16 per glass. Champagne by the glass is also offered.
The last time Bloom was inspected by Maricopa County (June 2011), no violations were reported.
