Guide Review - Someburros!
Someburros! is unique. It isn't fast food in the way that Taco Bell is fast food. It isn't factory prepared, and there's much more variety. Yet it isn't a full service restaurant either.
First, let's discuss the process. At Someburros! you place your order at the cashier, selecting from large menu boards. You pay for your lunch, get a tray (usually with a serving of chips and salsa), and a soft drink, if applicable. You get a number to place on your table. You grab your utensils and napkins (thanks for the heavy duty forks and knives!) and wait for the food to be delivered. You refill your own soft drink. A person will deliver your food and take your tray from you.
All items are made fresh on the premises. After several visits to the Chandler location of Someburros!, I've pretty much narrowed down my favorites to the Pollo Fundido, burros, chimis and the Chorizo cheese crisp. I sure wish they would cut up that cheese crisp, though--they never do! I'd pass on the tostadas, which are small, hard tortilla discs with minimal toppings. Want to skip the rice and beans? Try the Rod Burro, served with lots of green sauce and enchilada sauce. Dessert is also not my favorite here, but that's not why I come!
There's plenty of seating, but it's busy at lunchtime, since the price and timing is right for both families and business types. One large dining room at the Chandler location means noise and no privacy, so keep that in mind if you're expecting a romantic place, or one where you can have a meeting while you eat.
One thing I've never figured out--why do they take your tray if they expect you to bus your own table?
