Rocky Point, Mexico--or Puerto Peñasco--is a favorite destination for many Phoenix area residents because it is the closest beach we have. Rocky Point is also very popular during Spring Break, so if you are considering a visit, take that into account. If you aren't a student traveling with your friends, Spring Break is a great time to avoid going to Rocky Point!

First time we went to Rocky Point we rented a casita in Las Conchas. Beutiful place, had access to private beach. Beware though of the natives ripping you off. Went for a horseback ride near Plaza las Glorias and got ripped off, paid for a one hour beach ride and only got half hour. It won't happen again as my Spanish has improved dramamtically. I've been there many times since, mostly with a group from Durant's restaurant to help the children of Esperanza Children's Home on the outskirts of town. Also, my friend Nancy who runs the Rocky Point Animal Adoption Center in town near the Electric Company. She's an American who gives her heart and soul for the unwanted animals of R.P. Next time any onf your readers visit, stop by Esperanza or the Animal Adoption Center and tell them Kitty sent you.
