Rocky Point

Review of Rocky Point (Puerto Peņasco)

By Judy Hedding, About.com

Rocky Point, Mexico--in Spanish, it's Puerto Peñasco--is a favorite destination for many Phoenix area residents, because it is the closest beach we have. Rocky Point is also very popular during Spring Break, so if you are considering a visit, take that into account. If you aren't a student traveling with your friends, Spring Break is a great time to avoid going to Rocky Point!

Rocky Point, Mexico

I have been going to Rocky Point for 25 years about every other year, from Michigan. My friend moved to Phoenix and discovered this wonderful getaway. Her and I and 3 little kids would go down for long weekends spent camping on the beach. We never had any problems in fact we found help easily if we had a flat tire or needed help. We usually went Thanksgiving, Easter or long weekends. The weather is always wonderful, the people are friendly and the food is good. Most recently when we go down we stay at one of the new condos they have built down on the beach or at a hotel in town. We never felt intimidated or at risk. We now continue to go in our retirement years. There are quite a few large RV Parks there too.
