Rocky Point, Mexico--or Puerto Peñasco--is a favorite destination for many Phoenix area residents because it is the closest beach we have. Rocky Point is also very popular during Spring Break, so if you are considering a visit, take that into account. If you aren't a student traveling with your friends, Spring Break is a great time to avoid going to Rocky Point!

Rocky Point, Mexico

Easy does it after 10 years of visiting. We are regulars and our experiences have been different every time.We rent the same place on the beach each year but that's it for the same. In August, we took the same highway but the traffic was steady and fast. Fortunately, we left our [deleted by About.com Phoenix] rental early enough to beat the heat and the crowds. About the town, still historical no matter how it's changed. The rental on the best beach from our old' buddies, [deleted by About.com Phoenix], still a get-away beach house, and the ocean, still aqua blue marine. Worth the drive with good place to stay, worth getting up early to have a safe trip back. Dottie and Frank and the same ole' family.
