Popular Camps For Spring Break

When Spring Break comes around each year, not everyone has a great trip planned. If you want your kids to have a something special to do for several days during spring break, a Spring Camp might be the answer. Here are some places in the greater Phoenix area that have a Spring Break program for kids.

1. Arizona Diamondbacks Training Centers

D-backs Baseball Academy spring camps cover comprehensive baseball fundamentals including throwing, receiving, hitting, infield, outfield, base running, pitching and catching. Camps are located in Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe and Peoria. Registration includes 15 hours of instruction, T-shirt, hat and a free ticket to a 2012 D-backs home game with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discount.

2. Arizona Science Center

At the Arizona Science Center camps you can expect that the kids will be creating something or experimenting with something (and learning something!). Ages 6 - 9. Phoenix.

3. Arizona Spring Break Baseball Camp

America's Baseball Camps teach the fundamentals and allow players to further develop their individual skills through instruction, drills and game experience. Ages 9-18. McQueen Park in Gilbert, Arizona

4. Arizona Sunrays

Half days and full days in North/Central Phoenix. Gymnastics, dance, karate, games, sports, fitness fun, snacks. Ages 3 - 12.

5. Buckeye Spring Break Program

A week of fun games, crafts, fun and friends for kindergarten through 8th grade at Inca Elementary, 23601 W. Durango St. On-site activities centered around several forms of media including a field trip to the movies. The program is licensed by the Department of Health Services and accepts DES funding. Registration is accepted at the Dr. Saide Recreation Center, 1003 E. Eason Ave. Monday – Thursday from 9am-7pm. Call for info 623-349-6350.

6. Challenger Space Center

Challenger Space Center Arizona is partnering with Play-Well TEKnologies to offer two special LEGO®-based “Cosmic Kids” camps. Play-Well TEKnologies introduces engineering, architecture and science concepts to kids, utilizing kits containing over 100,000 pieces of LEGO®. Children will work individually and cooperatively to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while having fun with a terrific building toy. Pre-Engineering for ages 5-7, Engineering Fundamentals for ages 8-12. Preregistration is required. Maximum enrollment for each camp is 25 children per session. Peoria.

7. Chandler Environmental Education Center Spring Nature Camp

During the two-week Spring break camp, kids from 7-10 explore the environment through games, activities, experiments, hikes and crafts. General recreation, sports, math, arts and crafts, computer and horsemanship programs are also offered at various Chandler locations.

8. Chandler Young Actors Group Spring Glee Camp

During this one week intensive “Glee” style camp, kids will learn pop songs and hip dance moves under the professional direction of Kristen Drathman. Camp will conclude with a short presentation for friends and family. For ages 8 years and up.

9. Coyote Camp at the Hole-in-the-Wall River Ranch

Coyote Camp™, a children's activity program, offers the little ones a true Southwestern experience with gold panning, arrowhead hunts, tepee building, and more. Action-packed days of activities for children ages 4 to 12.
