This tournament is the last event on the Champions Tour for the year. Not only will a tournament winner be determined, but the Charles Schwab Cup Champion will also be named. The Champions Tour used to be known as the Seniors Tour.

When is the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Tournament?

Wednesday, October 31 - Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The first day of the event is the Pro-Am. Tournament play begins on Thursday.

Where will the tournament take place?

Cochise Golf Course at The Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale. This will be the first time that the golf tournament will be held here.

Directions to Desert Mountain: From the Loop 101, exit at Pima/Princess Drive. Turn north on Pima. Turn right on Cave Creek Road and follow the signs. From I-17, exit at the Carefree Highway. Drive east on Carefree Highway. Turn left on Cave Creek Road and continue east. After the four-way stop at Pima and Cave Creek Road, follow the signs.

How much are tickets, and how do I get them?

Tickets are General Admission grounds tickets. They are $20 each, good any one day. People who are 18 years old and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. You may purchase a weekly grounds ticket for $50. Tickets may be purchased online or by phone at 888-401-8000. Additional ticket fees may apply. Tickets will also be sold at the gate.

Are there any discounts to attend the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Tournament?

If you are active, retired or reserve military or a military veteran, you and your dependents may receive discounted or free admission through the Birdies for the Brave program. Before purchasing regular tickets, check that website for details.

Who will be competing in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Tournament?

The top 30 money leaders on the Champions Tour are invited to participate. Last year, the tournament winner was Jay Don Blake, and the overall 2011 Charles Schwab Cup Champion was Tom Lehman.

Will Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods be playing?

No, they don't play on the Champions Tour. This tour is for golfers age 50 and older. They don't have to be 'retired' from the PGA Tour to compete in this tour. The top 30 money winners on the Champions Tour are invited to attend. Some of the names that might be familiar if you follow golf are Bernhard Langer, Dan Forsman, Tom Watson, Fred Couples, Corey Pavin, Mark Calcavecchia, Kenny Perry, Larry Mize, just to name a few.

What else should I know about this tournament?

There is no cut in this tournament. All 30 players play all four days. You may bring folding chairs, but not the chair bags. No large folding chairs are permitted. Spectators will not have access to Desert Mountain clubhouses or restaurants, but concessions will be available on the course. If you can't be there is person, you can watch it on The Golf Channel.

I am coming in from out of town. Where should I stay?

Can I play at Desert Mountain?

The six golf courses at Desert Mountain are widely acclaimed, with beautiful desert and mountain views, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Unfortunately, Desert Mountain is a private club, so you mst be a member or a guest of a member in order to play golf there.
