Are you looking for a luxury golf course? a short course? a great value? In Arizona there is sure to be a golf course to fit your game, your budget, and your desire to play a great round of golf. Here are my favorite golf courses in the greater Phoenix area.
These courses might not be the ones played by Phil Mickelson when he's in town (or they might), and they might not even be the most expensive or exclusive courses around (see #2, below). When people ask me about my favorite courses in metro Phoenix, these are the ones that come to mind.
These are courses that have names that might be recognized in books and magazines, or commonly played by athletes and celebrities. If you are a golf course name-dropper, these are some of the best names to drop. Everyone loves to be seen at these courses, and they are great courses to play.
Not everyone has a hundred bucks to spend on a round of golf. These courses aren't cheap, but you won't have to get a second mortgage on your home either. I tried to keep this list in the $40 to $80 price range, but still challenging and attractive courses. You'll feel good, but not cash poor, when you're done.
For many people, golf is a game and not an investment. If you want to play golf cheap, here are a few courses that I like that you can play, and still afford a hot dog and a Coke when you are done with your round.
Short courses are nice on several fronts. If you are tight on money or time, a short course might be the answer. If you are a junior golfer, or just newer to the game, or like to walk a shorter course, executive courses can offer challenges without the distances.
