Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is located very close to downtown Phoenix and where the center of attention -- Chase Field -- will be for the All-Star Game and game-related activities. If you are staying somewhere within walking distance from METRO light rail there is a connector shuttle from the airport to light rail. Here's how that works and here's a map of the route that the airport shuttle takes. The shuttle is free.If you won't be staying near the METRO light rail line, you'll be renting a car. Make your reservations early. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has all the airport rental car companies at a Rental Car Center. There's a free shuttle from all terminals to that location. If you want to rent a car from a company that doesn't have an airport counter, here are some options. If renting a motorcycle is your preference, here are some bike rental companies.
Even if you rent a car, you might want to use METRO light rail so that you don't have to drive into downtown Phoenix for the game. Here is a list of Park 'n' Ride lots for METRO light rail. There is no charge to park there, but lots may fill up.For Visitors and Locals
Once you have decided to take METRO light rail to the activities and MLB All-Star Game at Chase Field you'll have to buy a ticket to ride. You can do that at the station, so no need to worry about that in advance. If you'll be in town for a while, you might consider a 3-day or 7-day pass.Here is a map and directions to Chase Field, including light rail information. METRO light rail also provides access from downtown Phoenix to Tempe, which is where Arizona State University is located. Although school will not be in regular session during the All-Star break, downtown Tempe has that "college feel" with one of the area's few pleasant downtown walking opportunities, bars, restaurants, shopping and entertainment.
