Phoenix Suns

Professional Basketball in the Valley of the Sun

By Judy Hedding, About.com

The Phoenix Suns play NBA basketball at the US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The 1968-69 season was their first. The Phoenix Suns were the first professional sports franchise to call Arizona home. Veterans Memorial Coliseum, later dubbed The Purple Palace, at the Arizona State Fairgrounds was the place to be for the games. In their first year their record was 16-66. Thankfully, they've gotten better since then!
