Ten Things To Know About National Comedy Theatre Phoenix:

  1. The theatre in which the imrov comedians perform is in a small strip mall. It seats around 100 people.
  2. The theatre itself is in good condition; seats are padded and comfortable, restrooms are clean and uniquely designed (dare I say funky?).
  3. There are two shows every Friday and Saturday night. Check the National Comedy Theatre Phoenix web site for special holiday performances. All the shows are clean. On the evening I attended, there were a few families with kids, and a few friends, but most of the patrons were couples out on a date.
  4. You can attend many of the National Comedy Theatre comedy improv shows and never see the same show twice. That's because (a) the comedy troupe consists of between 20 and 30 comedians, and they revolve performances, about 8 to a show. Also, the audience determines what every scene will be about, and the comedians never know in advance.
  5. There is a great deal of audience participation, but not to worry -- you won't be called upon. If you don't want to volunteer you can just sit there all evening and laugh.
  6. The show is about 1-1/2 hours long. There's a short intermission.
  7. Reasonably priced concession snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are sold at the theatre. Please don't bring your own.
  8. Seating is general admission, not assigned. All seats are close to the stage, but the stage is not raised. If you have small children a front row seat is best.
  9. Interested in having improv comedians at your party, corporate event or in your living room? They'll do that! They also conduct comedy improv workshops throughout the year for all ages.
  10. Here is the most important thing to know: we laughed and laughed and laughed. What a great way to spend an evening!
