Chocolate Festivals
During the month of February, there's always a special focus on flowers and love...and chocolate! This is, of course, in honor of Valentine's Day. Here are a few local festivals held each February that you and your favorite chocolate lovers won't want to miss.
Glendale Chocolate Affaire
A free event. Glendale Chocolate Affaire is a festival of both chocolate and romance with vendors, activities and live entertainment for the entire family. The Glendale Chocolate Affaire showcases a variety of national and local chocolates with over three-dozen chocolate vendors on-site. See pictures of the Glendale Chocolate Affaire.
Scottsdale Fine Art & Chocolate Festival
Celebration of juried fine arts and fine crafts. Over 20 chocolate vendors are scattered throughout the festival, offering their exquisite creations for sampling and/or purchase.
Language of Flowers and Chocolate Tasting Bring your lover to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for the annual show of plants and flower blossoms. Each flower is accompanied by a sign which explains its meaning so you can decode the ancient "language of flowers," and learn more about the way people have used flowers for discreet, diplomatic nonverbal communicate for centuries. For a small extra charge visitors may also sample decadent Cerreta Candy Company gourmet chocolates.
Not all the festivals are in February. Here's one in the fall. Whew! I'm glad we don't have to wait a whole year to get more chocolate!
Chiles and Chocolate Festival
At the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Chili and chocolate products from local vendors, unique Southwest gifts, cooking demonstrations, entertainment. Admission fee to the Garden is required. November.
Chocolate Day Trip
Just in case you'd like to make a entire day trip out of your love of chocolate, the Verde Canyon Railroad offers a Valentine's Chocolate Lovers Train. In addition to the regular amenities, passengers are invited to indulge themselves on chocolate treats. The Verde Canyon Railroad is about a two-hour drive from many points in Greater Phoenix.Just remember....anything tastes better dipped in chocolate.
