Celebrate Valentine's Day with a special, romantic meal at a fine restaurant. Most of them offer a prix fixe menu for the occasion. Check back often -- I add more listings right up until a few days before Valentine's Day!

Even if it isn't Valentine's Day, you might consider any of these restaurants for a date or other special occasion. Of course, the special pricing or menu might not be available on another occasion. Prices mentioned do not include tax or tip unless otherwise specified.

Valentine's Day specials include Cinnamon Ancho Braised Oxtail ragu, w/sweet potato fritters, broccoli raab florets, aged provolone, honey crème fraiche for $26; seared U-10 Scallops, salsa verde, smoked king crab reduction, frisee and arugula salad with a grapefruit vinaigrette and crispy grits for $30 and banana bread pudding with coffee chocolate ganache, salted peanut butter ice cream for dessert for $8. Bootleggers will also offer its traditional menu.

A casual alternative for Valentine’s Day dinner with a four-course prix fixe dinner paired with beers from a local favorite, Four Peaks Brewery. A Valentine's Day special menu from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Begin with a trio of appetizers: pasta pearls with beluga lentils, cherry tomato, asparagus, sunflower seeds and lemon caper creamed cheese dressing; Arizona greens with pickled baby red bees, Fossil Creek goat cheese, and dried cherry Banyuls wine vinaigrette; and chilled Alaskan king crab leg and poached Mexican white shrimp with ancho cocktail sauce and fresh citrus. Main dish selections include surf ‘n’ turf combination of mesquite wood-grilled petite filet and Maine lobster tail, braised leek and Boursin cheese smashed potatoes and sautéed sumbo asparagus; pan-roasted Oscar-style jidori chicken with wild rice pilaf, broccolini; mesquite wood-grilled NY strip, scalloped potatoes and caramelized Brussels sprouts with crispy prosciutto; or mesquite wood-grilled natural salmon, roasted sweet corn dumplings and calabacitas with wild oregano. Top off the romance with chocolate truffle Frangelico cake with a strawberry rose and meringue kisses. $55 per person.
