(Paradise Valley location) The meal I had was the worst I can remember eating anywhere for years. I ordered a top sirloin, medium. I received it medium well to well done, sent it back and got another one the same way except for one edge. Also the salad and the vegetables were terrible, ice cold white lettuce and grey mushy green beans - it was disgusting and I will not be returning to your restaurant for anything.

I will say, for one, that I was employed by the 5 & Diner in Franklin, TN and it was one of the best work environments I've ever experienced, in any industry. The management was wonderful, the atmosphere was unique, inviting and "fun," and my co-workers were a riot! It was clean, cozy and well-run. The 5 & Diner remains one of my favorite places to dine in the Nashville area, as the food is always acceptional and the service is usually pleasant. The bathrooms are of ample size, very tidy and there are locks on all the doors. This one-of-a-kind restaurant always lifts my spirits, fills my stomach and impresses all of my guests and dinner dates. All of whom continue to visit the Diner and many of which can now call it THEIR favorite restaurant! Why only four stars? Because it is inevitable that every restaurant will have at least one server who despises their job. You just can't please everyone.

(Superstition Springs location) We were there on Friday afternoon and had burgers fries, malts. Fries were not fresh at all, cool and like soft noodles, hamburger had to be sitting somewhere for some time because it was not hot. Only response was we make everything fresh. That may be true but not served fresh, I don't know if we would go back.

I read Judy's review of the 5 & Diner and totally agree with her...and believe me, when it comes to food and restaurants (my #1 passion in this world-and noooooo, I'm not FAT), I would not be shy to disagree. It's as Judy said, acceptable, but I will not go back again, either. I can certainly cook this type of food much better at home... when I go out I want to try to enjoy a meal that I either couldn't or would not bother making at home. There is better then this in the Valley!

Being a single mom of a teenager, I have to "shop around" for places to eat that have good food and are reasonably priced. 5 & Diner fits the bill on both counts. There is one on Baseline on the Mesa/Gilbert border and another one in Ahwatukee on Ray near the Freeway. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and quick to service. I have never been then and experienced a bad meal or a disinterested waitstaff. The Blue Moon Burger is what my son almost always gets and it's always cooked to perfection and there's plenty of fries and soda refills (without asking, they're right there to serve!) This is, in my opinion, one of the best values, deals in the Valley. Oh, you can also find coupons in Val-Pak, and elsewhere.
