Babaloo's Cuban Cafe

Reviews of Babaloo's Cuban Cafe in Phoenix

By , About.com Guide

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

I recently went to this restaurant and discoverd it was a waste of time and money. The food is over priced and isn't good at all. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and what I got was a plate of plain white rice with burnt chicken on top. Not even a good piece of chicken, a leg and a thigh and blew 14 buck for it. The date I was with ordered the Salmon La Parilla, Aka, rubbery fish over mushy quinoa risotto.which isn't even Cuban! Don't fall for the hype, save your money.

I was there last week and I really enjoyed the people and their genuine desire to please. The Food is great and the Chef is young and gives the vibes that he definitely is doing something he loves. That was my impression. I plan to give them my support this is truly a destination place that will satisfy giving yourself a treat.

I had a dinner party there for 25 people on my Daughters graduation from ASU and the food was excellent. I had been there before and I had a great experience. Food is authentic.

My son's restaurant so naturally I am biased. Everything is new and the recipes are Old tried and true. I must tell you the dishes are almost as good as what I get at home, but now I have no choice, my wife is usually there making sure that you are getting the goods. So I have to go there to eat also. Like all new things they will grow and fine tune their craft to please you and the need of a different type of dining experience in the Foothills. Hope to seee you all there sooner than later.

Three words to Describe this new Gem in the foothills: Authentic, Beautiful, Fantastic! This is Original Cuban food and than some, the owner and Chef Robert even made time to greet out table (as if we were important or something) to ensure that are food was to our liking. A Charming fellow, he told us that his parents immigrated to the US from Cuba and all the recipes are from his mother and Grandmothers treasure trove! He also added his own style to the dishes. The Restaurant itself was a feast for the eyes, and classically done with some Caribbean flare. I’m impressed and we’re glad he decided to open a place so close to our house!!!! We’ll be back!!!
