My husband and I have lived in East Mesa for about 12yrs. We usually commute to Scottsdale (Drinkwaters City Hall use to be our favorite) for a fine dining experience until we recently found EJ's Steakhouse. Last night 1-12-08 was our 27th Wedding Anniversary. We made reservations for 6:30. Our first impression was are we in east mesa?? Everyone from the Hostess to the Chef (He stopped by to ask us how our meal was!!) was very friendly! We started off with Oysters & The Ahi Tuna (unbelievable!), we split the 22oz Prime Porterhouse (best steak we have had since living back in Urbandale Iowa)& finished off with a very light n fluffy creme brulee!! The silverado cab was an excellent compliment to our dining experience(Thanks Michael our server for the recomendations)!! EJ's is now our new steakhouse!! Thank you for opening up in the East Valley!!

The restaurant is very nice, the service is good. The first thing I noticed was their ice tea, very cloudy and a very old taste. I had the Bacon wrapped Diver Scallops $19.00, I got 5 scallops, but they looked like they had been cut in half, they were about 1/2 thick. They tasted great, but very small for the price. Dessert I tried their Tiramisu,(one of my favorites)on top was a wilted strawberry with the texture of rubber. The the only taste that the Tiramisu had was sugar and that wasn't very good at all.It was to have Frangelico and Kahlua in it, I think the chef drank it instead of baking with it.

Without a doubt one of the worst $150.00 steak dinners for two that I have ever paid for in the United States of America. I ordered prime steak, medium rare. My first steak came out well-well done plus-plus - which I rejected as over-cooked. Replacement came out slightly thawed in the icy, still frozen red center. And my steak knife could not cut through the gristle around the edge of this "prime" steak. My dog is now choking on this $38.00 "prime beef" steak, trying but failing miserably to tear it from the bone. But he is only about 1.5 years old. Maybe when he grows older and meaner he could eat this stuff. Oops, I'm soory, he is now chewing on a plastic bone that we gave him for Chirstmas - more flavor I guess. Enter this restaurant at your own risk, but if you do, remember, I warned you.

Based on the fact that this restaurant is located in E.Mesa it is well worth a visit. Myself and dining companions all enjoyed our recent meal, steaks were tender, service was competent and the decore was nice. On the down side it is very pricey for the area. My bone in filet left about 1/3rd of the steak unedible (bone and grissel)and at 38 dollars thats kind of unacceptable. Desserts were excellent as were most side dishes. If you are looking for a special occasion place in E. Mesa you should go there but expect to pay Scottsdale area prices. My recommendation to them is to have some kind of specials that offer less pricey options. When I pay 40$ for a steak I expect perfection. I didn't get it.

At last a decent steak house in the East Valley. The food was excellent, the wines were very reasonably priced and the service was great. We will be back!!!

I have been to this restaurant three times within the past two months. Each time I have been delighted not only with the food, but with the service as well. The owners as well as the staff seem to be comitted to provide the best they possibly can, and they do.

E.J.'s Steakhouse is what this area has needed so desperately. They have a great menu with alot of variety. Don't miss out on the Calamari on the appetizer menu!! IT IS TO DIE FOR!!! We also had the crab cakes, which also were very good. Both of our entrees were very excellent, with wonderful flavor and presentation. It has been a long time since I have had a steak that good. Couldn't resist the desserts, they make them there from scratch!! Make sure to try the Lava Cake! We hit the butcher shop next door on the way out, and were pleasantly surprised at the variety and the reasonable prices. I will recommend E.J.'s to everyone I know!
