Eddie's House

Reviews of Eddie's House in Scottsdale

By , About.com Guide

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

I was very impressed when I first walked in The waitress was very pleasant- We were asked if we were interested in a nice wine to go with our meal Plain and simple I have traveled the world and I have had the great opportunity to have been to some of the finest dinning establishments and the all-around experience was to say "Fantastic" The night was perfect- I have sent several other parties there and they had the same experience I will be going back next week- Great Job Eddie/ John R Shultz-Chairman of Street Kid Films

I was disappointed. I am always on the look out for good independent restaurants and of course Eddie Matney is legend in this town. I liked the decor and the patio was very nice. The server was great, the right balance between friendly and helpful but no intrusive. I had the Chilean sea bass which may have been just a bad choice on my part because my date enjoyed her seafood dish. The house merlot was good but I just don't like the trendy stemless wine glasses. Eliminating a two-top on the row of tables we sat in would have been nice. We were so close to the the guests on our right and left that it was easier to hear their conversations than our own. I would rate it behind Chelsea's Kitchen, Radio Milano, 56 East, 98 South, and Tricks.

Eddie Matney's new restaurant, Eddie's House, in Old Town Scottsdale is amazing! It's a very laid-back, fun place. Everything is extremely reasonably priced (entrees are probably around $20) and you also have the option of getting any entree half size. The restaurant is filled with cool artwork and homey touches (a painting of Matney’s family tree on one of the walls, movies playing on the TVs, etc.). The decorations coupled with the small, intimate setting give the vibe of hanging out at Eddie’s genuine home. But because it is so small, you should probably get reservations or get there early!
