Melting Pot

Reviews of Melting Pot Submitted by About Phoenix Visitors

By Judy Hedding, About.com

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

(Ohio) Our party of six arrived at the “new” Melting Pot location at Easton Town Center. We were immediately greeted by 3 different sets of down steps after we passed through the front door; there was no elevator in sight and these steps are not for your elderly grandmother We asked about an elevator and were told that only one was available but it was located in a different part of the building. We were seated at a round corner booth with plenty of room for or our six average adults, our waiter greeted us quickly and proceeded to tell us about the “non cooked” food which we would be cooking and eating. I asked if we could please get drinks before his 10 minute dissertation on hiring us for the night as sous-chefs, the drinks were rather slow to arrive but of average size and quality. I had perused the menu online available in pdf. From their web site so I had an idea of the more upscale prices and what I thought I wanted to eat, well, we were told (quite a few times) that the best value was their offering of “The Big Night Out” The four course dinner consisting of cheese, salad, meat and desert arrived in a timely fashion (but remember you are cooking your own food) we each had 2 drinks from the bar and it took 2 ½ hours from start to finish. We had a great time cooking and dipping everything right at our table. Our server was very helpful and visited our table numerous times throughout our meal. Our bill was $475.00 this is not a typo $475.00 I guess it was more upscale than I had thought, The Melting Pot isn't the kind of place I would visit a lot (never again), due to prices and the length of time it took for us to cook and eat our meal. If I was 18 and on a prom date this might be a place to go, if your parents had money. Final synopsis, walk right on by go to a white table cloth restaurant the Ocean Club is right down the street and it would be cheaper than the $475.00

(Colorado Springs) I did not like the restaurant. First, we had a terrible girl serving us. I do not exactly remember her name, but it was something like Hania or Hanne. She did not say a word while making the cheese fondue and was kind of rude to us. Secondly, I felt it was a way too overpriced for the service and food we got.

(Scottsdale) My husband wanted to go for his birthday. I could have bought him a really, really nice present for what we paid for this mediocre meal, grudgingly served and poorly bussed. Too much food is forced on the diner - if you try to order less you get an argument. The chocolate used in the dessert fondue was less than mediocre. Some birthday!!

We Loved It! My boyfriend finally made good plans for Valentines Day. We did the full Sweetheart Fondue that included champagne and wine. It was pricey, but the dinner was extravagant and worth the price. It was romantic, private and the best part is we weren't rushed. Flaming Turtle Dessert - UNBELIEVABLE!

I dined at the Scottsdale Melting Pot 2 nights ago. We thought that our server did a fantastic job. We did notice though that she was not receiving any help from the busboys who were walking around all night. The food quality was mediocre especially for what we paid. All in all I will probably not return back to this restaurant because of poor management response about food quality and pricing.
