Pizzeria Bianco

Reviews of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, AZ

By Judy Hedding, About.com

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

My husband and I with another couple went into Pizzeria Bianco around 9:30 on a Saturday night. All four of us were extremly excited to try the restaurant, we had heard about it on Oprah. My husband and friend were shocked at how rudely they were treated by the hostess. Basically asked them to leave and step away from the bar area. They asked if we could sit out on the patio, which was empty, and they said we couldn't sit out there either. I called and spoke with Susan the "manager" and got treated even worse. I was blown away. I told her I didn't want anything free just wanted to let her know what was happening in her establishment when we went in. She continued to agrue with me and told me what I was saying was here say. I eventually hung up because I didn't call to argue with her. She called me back twice. The second time I answered and she told me I was calling to complain about her staff being rude, but I was the rude one. AND THE TOPPER.... she asked me if I was raised by wolves???? Repeated it again because I didn't comment, "did you hear me were you raised by wolves?" I couldn't even believe a manger of such a well known establishment treated me the way she did. So, they have a 5-6 hour wait she told me, does that mean they can be rude to anybody that walks in the door???? Since Oprah recommended this establishment, how would Dr.Phil diagnose Susan????

I am not sure if it was the color of my skin but my child and my self were deliberately not seated at Pizzeria Bianco. Many other two tops and families would put their names on the list. Then come join us outside while complaining about the wait time. Within an hr and ½ their two person wait was over when we had clearly arrived well before them. The outside bar maid would look at us yet never offered to take a beverage order from us, she offered all around us, so we went and got our own drinks as it was extremely hot out. After 3 hours of waiting and never being seated we left. Both of us were very disappointed. This is a lesson for people of color that a child should not have to learn. I have eaten at biancos before and had a pleasant experience. From this experience I recognized that I will never spend my money in a place that selectively decides who they are going to seat and not seat. I work downtown in a high volume area where many people request dining information. From this terrible experience I will discourage every visitor that I come across from frequenting this pizzeria. Pizzeria Bianco is a restaurant that I do not recommend.

All the Hype - not worth it. We waited 2 1/2 hours and I was very disappointed. We are from Central Jersey and grew up with multiple great pizza locations. We love Patsy Grimaldi's and a walk-up place called slices in Tempe. Bianco's way over rated. We went with friends from California and they liked the pizza but there taste is much different then ours. I have no intention of ever going back. We do plan on trying another place in Phoenix called Cipo.
