Archie's Deli

Reviews of Archie's Deli in Sursprise, Arizona

By , About.com Guide

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

A group of 16 of us went to Archie's on Thursday. When we got there the manager was EXTREMELY rude - loudly informed us that we had no reservation (we did), that we couldn't sit together (there were numerous empty tables together) and continued lecturing us loudly. We should have left. I will say the soup I had was very good and the waitress was excellent, but will not return due to the extreme rudeness of the manager/jerk. NEVER go to Archie's with a group. Unless you like being jerked around.

It is too bad that the management of this local establishment is so unfriendly, unhelpful and does not support their staff. Doomed for failure with the current management.

Finally a real deli in Phoneix! I've been a mid-west transplant for 7 years and I'd forgotten how much I miss authentic delicatessen. A must for anyone who loves deli.

We finally have an authentic deli in the valley. Archie's opened 4 weeks ago and is an outstanding foodfix for those of us craving chicken noodle, matzo balls or kreplah soup, noodle kugel, potato latke, knish, chopped liver or extra lean pastrami and corned beef on great rye, wheat or egg bread. The brisket of beef is mouthwatering. Salads are beautifully fresh. Free range chicken and turkey meats are featured. There is a full menu of hearty vegetarian sandwiches. And the rice pudding made properly with raisins is addictive. They serve excellent coffee drinks-Expressions brand-and a full breakfast menu with home made corned beef hash, smoked salmon, and blintzis make you want to get up and go there.
