Garcia's Mexican Restaurant

Reviews of Garcia's Mexican Restaurant in Phoenix

By , About.com Guide

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

(Chandler) I am a server a Garcia's on Az ave and Ocatillo, we are now under new ownership. People who really care about the the place. Things re changing Garcia's is not bad, maybe people get a bad server, or the cooks are rude and dont listen the the servers, but garcia's is a good place to go and take your family or go out and have drinks. At least our location is, we have a great GM who cares about the customers. We are only two years old, come try us. you will like us. we have great servers and a non-smoking large patio. Food is great!! 4210 S Arizona ave 85248

(Casa Grande) I just moved here from California, and if Garcia's is a 5 star Mexican restaurant for Arizona, then there is no hope for finding good Mexican food in the state. Garcia's is worse than a bad California chain. The food was bland, the decor was hokey, and it made me miss real Mexican food. Can someone PLEASE open up a Jalisco style restaurant out here!

Comments: (University & Gilbert) Wonderful food with terrific flavor and excellent service, too. We've been eating Mexican food for many years now and in several different states; nothing could compare with the food that we enjoyed at this particular Garcia's. Can't wait to visit the area again and to enjoy that wonderful food again too. From some of the reviews that I've read there must be a good number of Garcia's restaurants but I'd have to wonder if they also had different owners.

(Flagstaff) This restaurant had the worst food that I have ever tasted! The bean dip had no flavor, the salsa was runny, watered-down and tasted like tomato paste on a sock, and the enchillias tasted like someone had backed over them with a car.In addition, the waiter was extremely rude about the fact that we were paying w/ a VALID coupon(like they never expected anyone to actually use them!)...Take my advice & NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!

(59th and Bell Ave) We have been going to this particular Garcia's for the past 2 years, and all has been as expected. The food and service good enough to cause us to become repeat customers. However, on our last visit this past Friday, the food and the service of the manager were less than adequate. (Our table waitress was quite nice and our issues are not with her) The ground beef taco I had was more like mush and the chimis were watery and disgusting. The manager was condescending and phony, and spoke down to us like we were children. We drove too far to be treated like that, so Garcia's, you will find us elsewhere when it's time for Mexican food. Really too bad.

(59th and Bell Ave) Four of us seniors (55 and over) visited this Garcia's many times hoping it would get better. There is one man in particular who was a pain in the neck. Constantly checking how things were. He seemed to be a floor supervisor or such. He spoke down to all of us and was phony as a two dollar bill....kept telling us ,"oh I wouldn't lie to you" etc. The chimichanga was by far the worst I have had in all my 63 years....absolutely disgusting! He took it away and brought me yet another one.....this one was not ousing water and not mushy like the first one, but was tastless and the beef fatty, what there was of it. I can't believe we paid money to eat such inferior, disgusting food. One of the men ordered a combination plate with a taco and cheese enchilada, he said his taco was horrible.....We were there on Friday night about 5:30. All four of us agreed we will never go back....and since we live in a 55 and older community, we will definitely warn our friends about this particular place.
