Koi Sushi Bar and Grill

Reviews of Koi Sushi Bar and Grill Submitted by About.com Phoenix Visitors

By Judy Hedding, About.com

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

I moved to Phoenix last year and had yet to find top-notch sushi... until I stopped in at Koi last night. I’d known of Koi, as it's a mile from my house, but I was reluctant go because I’d assumed the good sushi places are in the East Valley. I was WRONG! I ordered carryout, but was given service as if I'd dined in. This sushi was what I'd been looking for! The flavors, the texture… everything about it was delectable. (I got the "Maine.”) I am thrilled that Koi is so close to me, as I will now be a regular!

I agree that I wish I would have stopped in this restaurant sooner! The moment you walk into the place your greeted by everyone no matter what the staff is doing. The service is fast, the food and its presentation are perfect. The waitresses really know how to make customers feel like kings and queens. If it's your birthday or somebody that you know, make sure the server is aware! You will be in for the ride of your life!

I think it's the best. When I walk in I'm welcomed like I'm a movie star. Alex is the best sushi chef.(43rd ave and Olive) If anybody ever again has misdirected feelings, let this man take care of you. The North Carolina roll is to die for!!!!!

I love this restaurant! I feel welcomed, no matter how busy. It is a bit pricey but (maybe it's because I'm lucky...) the restaurant always provides drinks or appetizers on the house for everyone! I look forward to going to the movies because it means going to Koi. :)

We were hesitant at first to go inside the place because we knew many people have tried to use this place for various cuisines. None have worked. But once we were graciously welcomed in and the food started to arrive we were kicking ourselves for not coming in sooner. Everything was very fresh. Presentation was beautiful. But as a family with a 3 year old, we were most impressed by the kindness from our server to our child. The best service for our whole family...ever! We recommend this place to anyone!! Pleas go so it will stay around!!!
