Pita Paradise

Reviews of Pita Paradise Submitted by About Phoenix Visitors

By , About.com Guide

People just have to let me know. They go to a restaurant in the greater Phoenix area, and they either loved it or hated it--there's not much in between! I created these pages so that you, the visitors to About.com Phoenix, could have your say. As for the rating, one star is the worst, five stars is the best.

Now, a word of warning--every once in a while I'll get a review from someone who has a specific agenda in mind. A really bad review might be from a disgruntled employee. A really good review might be from the owner or manager. Unless I specifically mention that I have edited a review for some reason, you see the comments posted here exactly as I received them.

My wife and I recently went to desert ridge to see a movie, the show we were planning on seeing was sold out. So we bought tickets for the next show and went out to eat. We ended up at pita paradise. The food was great and the drinks were cheap. We actually ended up staying all night, watched a pretty decent dj, and missed our movie. Definitely recommend this!

I have read the other comments (negative) about this restaurant & would never have thought it was the same restaurant! I had the exact opposite experience. My waitress was attentive & informative. The food was wonderful. I had the chicken shawarma, which consists of organic chicken & veggies wrapped in pita bread with their tazikki (hope I'm spelling that correctly) sauce, rice & salad. I would suggest this place to anyone & if it was ever as bad as some of the other customer comments well it's not anymore!

My wife and I visited the restaurant on a weekend, since we both like the food there and were going to see a movie. There were two servers serving those patio seats. The older one was pretty rude during ordering and didn't even ask us if we need refill on our drink when my cup was completely empty. He just walk pass by me...3 times...and won't even make eye contact. It was around 11:30 and it was not that busy at all. There was this attitude from him. We spend about $35 on lunch between just the two of us. Just FYI.. When you charge $3 for a cup of ice tea...the server better keep an eye on the customers making sure they don't have to ask for a refill. If we see server next time I will probably just leave because I don't want him to spit in our food.

The new management has turned ths once good restaurant into one of the worst ones in Phoenix. My daughter and I orderred The Greek Gods platter for two. It was horrible. A large platter of dried out old rice with old broccoli and carrots on top, and a large toothpick(not a skewer)with 3 or 4 pieces of dried out overcooked chicken, another one with overcooked little pieces of lamb. The meal was uneatable. No taste. No seasoning. When the old owners left, they must have taken the cook too. There are several eating places within walking distance. Treat your stomach, save your money(the platter was $40) and walk on by this one.

The food is exquisite, the Dinner menu is wonderful. Im a regular, and Fridays and Saturday evenings are amazing, the live bellydancers and music gets the entire place pumped! It is family owned, and everyone is very friendly! The Hostess is beautiful and very hospitable, even though management changed and prices came up, the service became better and the aura is exquisite, I highly recommend it! The owner is always very interested in the customer and if we are enjoying it, and everyone is on top of it! They have a good environment and amazing bar with flat screen TVS. 5 thumbs up!

WARNING!!!!!! Save your appetite & your wallet. My daughter & I asked for a lunch menu & decided to split a greek salad w/ gyro meat ($10.99!) and a side of fries ($3). We were asked if we would like the kitchen to "split" the salad & said yes. The server then said that her manager just informed her that any shared menu items would have an extra $3 charge because of "some problems they're having with another lady". What??! 15 minutes later, the meager salad and fries arrived sans gyro meat, feta and pita bread. We didn't see our server for another 20 minutes. We flagged down the "bouncer" who brought us gyro meat. Our water glasses went unfilled and we were ignored until the server decided to have us pay. WAY overpriced for lousy food & pitiful service.
