Tempe Farmers Market is a little gem in my downtown Tempe neighborhood. It's only been open for over a year, but they have an amazing selection of local products. They have pretty much all the staples I need, plus extras I love. I am addicted to the local hummus, tamales and pasta. I find that I only need to go to the larger chain grocery stores, less than once a week. I run by Tempe Farmers Market almost daily--I would rather pay a little extra for fresh, organic eggs, than drive 2 miles for eggs that came from who knows where?
Their prices are competitive with the big stores, if not cheaper--you should be aware that organic/specialty foods do cost more, in general, but the quality is so much better! I highly recommend that you make Tempe Farmers Market part of your weekly/daily routine.
Their staff is always friendly and helpful. Plus they always have a pot of local coffee brewing--yum!
Were the produce and vegetables fresh and appealing?
Their produce is mostly local and/or organic. Many times from local vendors in the 'hood. I often find unusual, interesting new veggies to try!
Was there entertainment? If yes, what kind?
No entertainment. I heard they are planning a Saturday outdoor market with local bands. Can't wait to check it out.
