Yes - First and onlyMy Review
First, I'll say that I've been all over Mexico - from Cancun and Cosumel on the Southeast, to Acapulco on the west - up to Cabo San Lucas in Baja and over to Matamoros, Tampico and Veracruz on the Northeast. All along the Pacific West Coast, and much of the interior - including Guadalajara several time.
But, I've only been to Rocky Point once. It was a disaster. It was the July 4th weekend in 1971, with another couple. Unfortunately, a hurricane was close enough off the coast to cause extremely heavy winds, which blew sand everywhere. There weren't very many places to stay (it was a small town then), and what rooms were available were already occupied by giant cockroaches. There really wasn't much to do there in those days, and after that, we either went farther into Mexico, or over to San Diego - to get to the beaches south and west of Phoenix.
I'm told Rocky Point is much more developed now, but I've also spoken to people who have been hasseled by the Mexican federales on the road to Rocky Point, and the city police in Rocky Point. Generally, handing over a few dollars sends them on their way, but that's annoying.
