Phoenix Restaurant Review
Name of restaurant:The Sushi Room
Date of your visit (month/year):January 2012
City where this restaurant is located:Chandler, AZ
The Sushi Room opened in south Chandler, near the intersection of Dobson Road and Queen Creek Road, in the fall of 2011.
Walking in is a bit strange -- there's a barrier just a few feet from the door, I assume to shield the tables from the hubbub of the arriving patrons. Tables are lined up in a not-so-interesting configuration, and there's a semi-hidden lounge area on one end of the restaurant. There's a nice patio, although it is basically in a parking lot. There's not much people watching to do here.
I stopped in for the happy hour specials. There are quite a few items offered at Happy Hour prices. Two of us filled up with a starter, nigiri, sashimi and salad for about $25. The Executive Chef is an experienced sushi chef, and the food is nicely presented.
This is a casual place. Most of the tables are rather close together so don't expect many intimate moments on your date here. In addition to sushi and sashimi, the Sushi Room also offers a variety of entrees, rolls and other appetizers, some of which are cooked for those of you that aren't sushi lovers. Check for lunch specials.
