From the article: Killer Bees
In Arizona we have Africanized honey bees, otherwise known as killer bees. How or where did you come across them? How do you know they were killer bees? Were you stung? What did you do? Share your story! Tell Us About It

attacked by africanized bees yesterday

ok, so i work in the pest control industry and am very familiar with africanized honey bees. was sprayn around the house and bam these suckers swarmed me like kamakazi's. of course i took off running. i was stung 8 times in my scalp, 6 on the back of my neck, 6 on my face, 5 on my wriste. horrible. today i wake up my eyes all swollen, nausia, headache, dizzy or foggy, vomiting early this morn. regular honeybees are nothing like this. if you just walk away the will disburse. africanized will chase your a** down the street. nothing like getting beat up by a bunch bees. horrible

killed my 5 dogs

a week ago today my 3 boxers, 1 rottweiler & 1 dalmation/irish setter mix were attacked by these bees and all died. 1 of the 3 boxers who was hiding under the dog house escaped death when the attack occurred, i pulled out 27 stingers out of her nose. unfortunately she died the next morning. i cannot stand the loss that i am having to deal with and want to warn others of this. apparently the bee keeper on the island has removed 3 bee hives of these killers already on our island. i also understand that 1 man on the south side of the island is fighting for his life from being attacked by these killer bees. - - - [From the About.com Guide: The island referred to is Roatan in Honduras; this was not an Arizona occurrence.]

stung by

I was using a weedeater near an old tree stump.I had on short pants and white t shirt.I had no idea there was a nest of the bees living in the stump. Then out of the blue one hit me hard in my back right leg.It felt like I had just been shot!I ran and then another hit me in my left arm, again it felt like a bullet.I grabbed the second bee off my arm and it hit the grond. It was then I saw that it was a bee.How could a bee hurt so bad?I have been stung by wasps and yellow jackets and they never hurt as bad as these bee stings. All day long they hurt real bad and the next day too. Then they started itching.Thats my hoping only time being stung by african killer bees.Oh yes I did spray the nest in the stump and killed them dead!

Attacked by Killer Bees

In 1995 a friend accidentally threw a piece of wood into their hive, on the bank of the Santa Cruz "River" (actually a very large wash) in South Tucson. They kept us captive for over 6 hours and would swarm us when we ventured outside. They attacked us and our neighbors for 3 days, but only if you swatted at them. The first day was like a science fiction movie! They kept a 'guard' by our door and when we came out, there instantly were 10 - 20 bees flying around our heads and through our hair trying to antagonize us. If you swatted at them, all of a sudden there were thousands attacking. We contacted the U of A there to see if they would remove the bees. But they suggested getting a bee exterminator. There were millions of bees that would make such a cloud that they blocked out the sky. I think they are still there. They covered the dogs in the pen and killed them within a couple hours. It was very sad!
